Sonia was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. She
graduated Moscow State University Medical School
with highest honors in 1993, and relocated to Israel.
In 2001, while studying molecular biology at the
Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem,
she set up the PCR diagnostic laboratory at the
Marshak Clinic Rehabilitation Center in Moscow.
In 2003 she received her PhD summa cum laude, winning
several awards for her research in diabetes including
the Golda Meyer Foundation Award and the Hebrew
University Medical School Faculty Award. She arrived
in the United States in 2003 and turned her attention
to neuroscience at the University of California.
After completing her post doctoral training which
was featured in the Journal of Neuroscience, Sonia
joined her father at the Marshak Clinic in Malibu.
In addition to running the genetic lab, Sonia will
be doing on-site research encompassing the physiological
processes which occur in the brain while in active
addiction and post recovery. As a scientist, she
believes that the Marshak Method is the most innovative
and comprehensive treatment currently available
to people suffering from substance abuse or alcoholism.
